About the Producer

Francesco and Michele Montresor head the Ottella wine farm, in the hamlet of Ottella, near the town of Peschiera del Garda. However, its most famous vineyards are situated in San Benedetto di Lugana. Ottella deserves a first class place within the Lugana designation thanks to its stylistic approach to wines, centred on refined tonalities, intense aromatic characteristics and pervasive minerality.

Francesco and Michele’s philosophy is to create wines that have an exact nose to palate correspondence; that are fine and elegant in their evolution and tingling with mineral sensations, ultimately delivering a satisfying mouth feeling that is enhanced by the savoury and spicy sensation of clay.

Vineyard

The grapes come from vineyards located in the areas most suited to this denomination in San Benedetto di Lugana. Double arch Guyot, yield around 9,000 kg of grapes per hectare, equivalent to 5,700 litres of wine or 63%.

Vinification

The harvest and the selection of grapes are carried out strictly by hand, the grapes are placed in small 17 kg cases. Delicate, soft pressing of the whole bunch for most of the grapes, while the rest is gently de-stemmed by oscillation. Thereafter, a strict protocol of vinification follows: racking for natural settling, slow, temperature-controlled fermentation (14°/18°)

Ageing

Ageing for 5 months on fine lees and yeasts. Ottella Lugana is then bottled so as to retain its natural freshness.

Tasting Notes

Light, glittering straw yellow. Exotic sweet notes of candied and citrus fruits on the nose, with fine, elegant minerality. On the palate it displays diffuse, expressive subtlety and a characteristically authoritative, warm and persistent breadth of flavours.

12% alcohol vol.

Food Suggestions

All fish-based dishes, both fresh water and marine fish, soups, savoury first courses with pasta or rice, white meats dressed with or cooked in delicate sauces. Great on its own as a truly intriguing and enticing aperitif.

Serving temperature: 10-12°C.

Cellar

Ottella Lugana is delicate and best consumed while young.
